So we took delivery of our Nickel Iron Solar Off Grid Batteries today. I was hopeful that our entire off grid power system would be on the truck, however we found out that the solar panels would be coming from a different vendor and that they were en-route, and one final piece of critical hardware wasn’t able to ship our to us until about 10 days from now.
I found out later that each battery was 81lbs. So I moved about 1620lbs of stuff twice that’s over 3,200lbs of moving batteries over 3 hours. So I had to have the Nickel Iron Edison batteries delivered to our neighbors yard as an 18 wheeler could not get up our driveway without 4 wheel drive. Once unloaded, we had to open each case, and transfer the batteries one at a time, onto a trailer, strap them in and get it back to the top of our hill across the street — “carefully”. The packaging coming in from the manufacturer in China was unbelievable. We’ll be moving our RV camper trailer over to the land probably in the next 10 days, so we can start really focusing on starting the building process, while researching where to acquire the best lumber or create our own from the trees on our property — which could require John becoming an overnight expert in Saw Mills or an Alaskan Sawmill type setup. It’ll be interesting to see how things turn out and the direction our house will take.
